Face Brushes Hits Misses and Essentials

Hey guys its Geraldine back with a blog post this time its my essential face brushes. There is so many brushes out there in all shapes and sizes and most aren't cheap so I thought I would share my experience and tell you which ones I believe are essential and which ones I can do without.

Foundation Brush
Most people believe this is a must but we are often forgetting one of the best tools at our disposal, our hands of course! Using your hands can create a a flawless base while making it easier to control the coverage in the area you need it most. However it can be messier business so I will show you some alternatives but if you are short in pennies don't think you have to buy fancy brushes to have perfect foundation.

  • The Stippling Brush
Stippling brushes are for people who want a light natural coverage they are great at applying liquid foundations and cream blushers .The way to use is to pat quickly onto the skin. I can not give a detailed opinion as I have never felt the need to use this type of brush., It is definitely not an essential of mine.

  • The Buffing Brush
The main purpose of this brush is to buff (clues in the name!) in foundation mainly mineral foundations but as it can be used to apply liquid foundations too its a HIT. It can even be used to apply blush or bronzer.
These come in different shapes with different densities some are flat whilst others are curved some are smaller than others. The size and type of hair of the brush is a matter of preference, the main thing you want in a buffing brush is densely packed hairs.

My preferred buffing brush is the  Real Techniques Buffing Brush which can be bought  only in a set in superdug and boots RRP 21.99

  • Standard foundation brush
This is probably the most well known foundation brush which looks just  like a painting brush. I do not believe these brushes are necessary or an essential as they are quite limited in there use. The one benefit of this brush is you can apply foundation in a downwards motion insuring facial hair lies flat.
190 Foundation Brush
Mac 190 brush RRP $34

  • Beauty Blender
Although it is not a brush I thought it deserved an honourable mention as it is most definitely an essential of
mine. The shape of the beauty blender makes it great for applying foundation under the eye area and makes it great for blending in your concealer in a very precise way. All you have to do is wet the sponge and start applying its so easy and its not very expensive either. What more could you ask for?!

Blush Brush and Contour Brush
This is one of the brushes I believe can be combined to save you some money. Two possibilities can be seen below;
Angled Blush Brush
Contour Brush
I prefer to use this contour brush as it is the perfect  shape to fit in the hallows of your cheeks helping to create a nice contour, it also allows you to apply blush precisely.

Blending brush
This is a small domed shape brush which allows you to blend your concealer and is a huge essential. The good thing about this is many of your blending or crease eye-shadow brushes would be suitable so you don't need to buy another.

So there you go that is my opinion on all those brushes but just because some work for me doesn't mean they will work for you and vice versa. Let me know your opinions in the comments below.
